Back to work

I’ve been back at work for a week now and it’s been good but manic! I am really missing my baby but dare I say I do love being back in the office…guilt! So, workwise we are quoting for an advertising job which will be five room sets ups-probably a set build rather than a [...]

Reader Question: What curtains to buy!

Curtains
Jemma Watts (Photgrapher) wrote in to ask the following question:
Question
I live in a modern flat with neutral decor throughout. I need to buy some curtains for the large windows in the livingroom but I’m not sure whether to continue with the light and modern theme or whether to opt for a colour – help!
Answer:
I would opt for either dark caramel/chocolate colour or an oyster pink; depending on how feminine you want the look to be. Both would create depth and sit beautifully against your pale walls.
If everything in the room is white it can look a bit bland and clinical. The darker curtains will create a focus around the main light source in the room and make a frame around the stylish windows. For extra drama, opt for a luxurious fabric such as silk or suede.I would also introduce a thin voile to have across the window. This will allow you have privicy when the curtains are open and still let in natural daylight. Romo fabrics also has some good examples of using curtians and voiles together Habitat supply a double curtain track system called ‘Architect’ for exactly that purpose. http://www.habitat.co.uk/fcp/product/browse/Double-curtain-pole/977491.
Good places to buy curtains are: Next and John LewisIf you have curtains made then some good fabric suppliers are:Wilman Interiors, Osborne & Little, Malabar, Romo
