Keeping busy whilst on maternity leave

It’s been a busy and exciting month. As well as looking after the newest addition to the family, we are also moving house and juggling work. Why is it that everything always happens at once!
-We were asked to style an advertorail for Marie Claire but passed the job over to a good friend of mine as it’s a bit too soon after the baby.

New baby & interview with Laurence Llewelyn Bowen!

Our beautiful baby girl has arrived! As predicted, she was one week early and is absolutely perfect. It’s day 6 and she is still having a massive sleep fest – hence me being able to blog! We have lots of really exciting projects on the go at the moment. The first is our exciting interview with Laurence Llewelyn Bowen by our Shopping Contributor Liz Danon.

Update on pub renovation

The pub renovation job is going well. I met with the Builder today to discus my ideas and show him the room plans I have designed. They are due to start ripping out the old rooms in a few weeks and then the fun starts! We are now designing 6 rooms rather than 5 as apparently if you have 6 rooms or more then you can class yourself as a hotel. This in turn means you can be listed in all the good hotel guides and hopefully gain star ratings.

I am in the process of decorating our nursery and have been on the hunt for some tasteful cushions. Hunky Dory Home makes a range of accessories including lampshades using colorful & stylish fabrics. Each one is hand made and very reasonably priced.

How to find a trusted tradesmen?

Let’s face it, a good and trust worthy tradesman can be extremely hard to find and when you do eventually find one it’s even harder to find a time when they can fit you in!

Rated People is a business directory of tradesmen who have been rated by the public to help us see if they have done a good job for previous customers. It’s a simple yet very effective idea. To use the service, you need to register, post a description of the job you need doing and then wait for the tradesman to contact you with a quote. Once you receive the quote you can check out the feedback by previous clients before you decide whether you want to use them or not. I have used three tradesmen from this site purely based on their positive online feedback. Let’s hope we can say goodbye to all those cowboy builders and decorators….

Your childs artwork…on a handbag!

As I am expecting my first child, this company really caught my eye. We all know how much children enjoy drawing and it’s great to then pin the picture on the fridge or wall. However, we can sometimes be limited on space and after a while the drawings can start to look at bit tatty and messy!

Scribble Coutre has the answer. It’s an online company that copies your childs drawing on to a bag of your choice. It’s simple to use; simply upload the drawing from your computer (by either take a picture of the drawing with a digital camera or scanning it), choose the bag of your choice and then wait for them to post it to you!
It’s not cheap but then the bags are real leather and so are made to last. Let’s hope your Childs drawings are stylish enough….!
