Vintage is still going strong

On July 22nd, 2009 by .

The love of vintage interiors and accessories looks like it’s here to stay so I thought I would post some images from a vintage shoot I worked on with my photographer friend Jemma Watts.  The brief was a pretty vintage summer picnic.  It’s a really easy look to create and would be lovely to use for a party picnic with friends.

Vintage looks

I love pretty tins like the one in the photo above.  I am always on the hunt for them in vintage and charity shops.  They are great for cutlery but also as pen pots and the larger ones as cake tins.  They also look great teamed with old french linen napkins.

Vintage accessories for a picnic

We actually hired this little wooden basket but you can pick them up from any garden center.  Then all you need to do is paint it with a soft pastel colour.  Try Cath Kidston paints for the exact tones.

Hampers are great when it comes to picnics and you can usually find old ones in charity shops.  Some people might think they’re a bit old fashioned but I think they’re great, especially the ones that have the holder for a bottle of wine and glasses!  We made the pretty vintage style napkin (above) from a section of fabric, we just cut out the shape, ironed the sides and finished it off by ironing on a green trim with web glue.

And last but not least, a pretty china cake stand…full of cakes of course!
