CARDIFF’S VERY OWN ‘MINI MILAN’ DESIGN TRAIL, THROUGHOUT OCTOBER 2009
Now in it’s 5th year, the 2009 Cardiff Design Festival promises to be the best yet.
With the official launch of the festival taking place in the Senedd at the beginning of October, the very best of Welsh Design Community along with festival organisers, will joining forces for the month of October, celebrating all that Wales has to offer the design arena.
Think ‘Mini Milan’ and take the design trail around the stylish Welsh capital [one of Europe's fastest growing European cities and tipped to be one of the best shopping centres in the UK with the soon to be completed St David's 2]. Call in at designer furniture store, Momentum, (www.momentumstore.com) whose elegant showroom spans four floors of a Georgian town house, awash with all the biggest names in designer furniture -from B&B Italia to Flos and Kartell; visit the shop of world renowned experts in woollen cloth, Melin Tregwynt, where this year weaver Laura Thomas will be telling us about her recent collaboration with the Welsh woollen mill and designer Donna Wilson, who produced a range of home textiles for SCP; view the latest products from the likes of Welsh design duo, Freshwest, and furniture from the designer of Habitat’s best ever selling sofa [the Pacino], Angela Gidden of Attic 2.
From branding, graphics and web design, to the world of Welsh interiors and fashion, the Cardiff Design Festival puts Wales firmly on the design map -and you too can follow the trail around the stylish Welsh capital and discover all it has to offer any design savvy visitor or inhabitant.
