Competition: Win two fantastic books

On November 30th, 2010 by .

This competition is now closed.  Congratualtions to our winner, Lou Taylor-Murison!

We have two fantastic books to give away from RotoVision just in time for Christmas,  they would make a lovely present for someone or you can simply keep them for yourself!

The first is called Reinventing Letterpress and I have totally fallen in love with it.  The book gives an overview of the fascinating techniques of this traditional process and also celebrates it’s mass revival by showing the portfolios of stunning work from the best letterpress studios that are running today.

The book is filled with so many beautiful pieces of letterpress artwork of all colours, shapes and designs.  Not only is it great to see all of the stunning work but it’s a fantastic resource for images and inspiration and very worthy of a prime place on any coffee table.  Below are just a few images from the book:

The next book is called 52 Photographic Projects, and would suit anyone with an interest in photography.   It was created by a self taught photographer called Kevin Meredith aka lomokev, who’s long term hobby turned into a career.  This is his second book (his first book sold out of it’s print run in under a year!)   Here is what the publishers say about it:

“This book will kick-start your creativity, enhance your photographic skills, and build your confidence behind the lens.  It’s cliche’ busting ideas are backed with jargon-free, practical advice to offer a weekly dose of inspiration for photographers and image-makers of all levels”.

Designing a stand for The Designer Wedding Show 2010

On November 29th, 2010 by .

This is one of the jobs I have just finished for Pearl Pictures Photography.  They took a stand at The Modern Bride Show and asked me to design the space and source the props.

The first image is my conceptual moodboard and the following pictures are photos taken from the actual event.  Pearl Pictures identity is feminine, vintage, timeless & sophisticated and so I wanted their stand to reflect all of these important qualities.  My aim was to create a ‘living room’ feel so that customers could sit and relax while they talked about their exciting wedding plans.  The gorgeous vintage sofa was my key focal piece as not only didi it compliment Pearl PIctures company colours, it also epitimised the classic vintage feel.  The thinking behind the  picture gallery was that people could come onto the stand and view Pearl Pictures Gallery.  It was a great show with some fantastic feedback.

Maybe a new DFS sofa for Cristmas...?

On November 29th, 2010 by .

I have just been sent the latest collections from DFS and they are really quite pretty.  I know a sofa isn’t the usual Christmas purchase BUT, if you were thinking of buying a new sofa then now is the perfect time as there are some great bargains to be had!

Back to blogging!

On November 28th, 2010 by .

I am so happy to be back in the office this week so that I can catch up with the blog.  I have been out working for the last two weeks and I just haven’t had the time to catch up.  The Figleaves show was great and the client said that they were very happy.  I had to style the swimming area at the Haymarket Hotel and amongst other features I used a 9ft boat in the swimming pool!  Thank you to Marine TV and film services – it was a great  job to work on.  Thanks again to the lovely Joanna Thornhill who assisted me on the shoot ;0)

Pippa Jameson's guide to Christmas

On November 28th, 2010 by .

Below are two Christmas films that I was commissioned for in conjunction with Notcutts and Threepipe.  I was asked to write and present the virals, which offer lots of styling tips including; how to style your dining table for Christmas and advice on buying the right tree for your home.

Christmas gift guide

On November 26th, 2010 by .

This year I am genuinely confused as to which way to go with Christmas colours, materials and interiors in general. I have a love for all things old and natural, but am also loving the contrast of the slightly tacky sparkly stuff. Therefore I have handpicked my absolute favourites from a variety of suppliers, which will hopefully help you to decide if you are having a simular dilema to me! I have decided to go for a mixture, although I do like themes, I think the contrast between different styles is always exciting and alot more interesting and challenging.

These pine cones are super cute on their red ribbons, you could probably make them but they are very cheap I think.

A great christmas present for an expectant mother...

On November 8th, 2010 by .

It’s looking unlikely that we will have time to create our Christmas gift guide this year as we are too busy.  However, I am going to feature the best products that I have come across during my Christmas press shows. This item is the perfect gift for an expectant mother or anyone who is about to wean their baby.  It’s called The Wean Machine and is the most incredible product that I have come across for weaning…no really!  I have two young children, one of who I am weaning now and this tool has been invaluable.

You basically open out the product, fill it with your food of choice (any fruit or vegetable) squeeze the handle down and then feed from the little pot.  The spoon clips back into the handle and it has a cover that clicks on to save the mess.  It really is amazing.  With my first child I was always putting messy spoons and bowls into small sandwhich bags but the mess is totally contained here.  Check out their website for more demonstration images.

Have yourself an earthy little Christmas

On November 8th, 2010 by .

I am loving the Christmas trend this year to decorate with raw, earthy like materials such as driftwood, string, twigs/sticks, recycled brown paper and newspaper just to name a few! It has a chic, effortlessly cool look and gives a unique twist to gift wrapping and the home. Plus, the added bonus is you save money and are being kind to the environment!  Take a look at some of these ideas for your Christmas decorating inspiration…

Busy times

On November 3rd, 2010 by .

The planning of the Figleaves show is in full swing, there are a few logistical and technical hurdles to overcome due to the venue but it’s a challenge that I am enjoying.   We are also quoting for some more SS press shows and decorating shoots…!

The magical influence of Alice in Wonderland...

On November 3rd, 2010 by .

Over the last couple of weeks I have been working on a job where I had to produce lots of different concepts.  One of the ideas is a key trend at the moment and can only be described at ‘The Alice in Wonderland influence’.  I have sourced some images from the film and then included some pictures from some large Ad campaigns that have been inspired by this magical theme, including non other than Dior as well as Juicy Couture.  I just love the vibrancy and colours as well as the pretty chinaware  and cakes.  It’s such a gorgeous them for a shoot  ;0)

The detailing on the cakes is so pretty and looks stunning on the various vintage style cake stands.

Every detail has been so well thought out, right down to the pretty tablecloths.  The lime green one on the left looks like a French linen while the pretty pink style has a soft damask pattern.

ADVERTSING CAMPAIGNS WITH THE ‘ALICE INFLUENCE’

Above are the most recent advertising campaigns for DIOR.  The main similarity is the slightly crazed and ruffled look of the hair as well as the ruffles and flowers seen on the fabrics.

The Juicy Couture images above also demonstrate this look.  Just look at the rabbits ears!  I also love the butterflies, I am desperate to dress a set like this.  I think I can feel a test shoot coming on ;0)
