Style your home for Halloween!

On October 24th, 2012 by .

It’s one week to go until Halloween which means it’s time to start planning the party!  Don’t think that the dressing up and decor is just for the kids, we’d like to think our shoot below is tastefully set up for both!  The photographer on this shoot was Jemma Watts and the stylist was myself.  We used a selection of 3M products for hanging items on the wall.  Happy Halloween!

4 Tips for creating a Halloween themed party!

  1. Think about where you are going to be entertaining friends and family, this set-up would work perfectly well in the kitchen, dining room or living room, as all you need is a table for food/sweets and a wall/ceiling to hang accessories. There are so many fun Halloween pieces to choose from when it comes to decorating your space, we chose items such as lanterns as they’re fun and add drama to the room.
  1. Once you have decided on your items, you’ll need to work out which Command products would be most suitable. For our Halloween lanterns, we used the small decorating clips from Command; they are perfect for most Halloween decorations and novelty string lights.
  1. Our Halloween board is a fun addition to the wall; you could always use a chalkboard and write your own Halloween menu or cocktail menu for the adults! To hang it on the wall, we used the clear medium hooks from Command. Before you hang anything from the hook it is important that you check the weight that it can hold by looking at the front of the packet. This hook can hang up to 2 pounds, or 900 grams.
  1. The small newspaper bags are a quick and easy way to create some fun props for your party and best of all, they are made from recycled items. Using an old newspaper, cut out a rectangle shape, then fold it over and stick the side and bottom, cut up strips of black paper and fill up your little bags leaving little spikes sticking out of the top. To attach them to the wall or desk then we would recommend the poster strips from Command, they are also great for attaching unframed pictures or photos to your wall.

Mr J Designs

On October 18th, 2012 by .

Mr J Designs, is a furniture and product design company based in North Wales, who sell a small selection of unique and stylish items.  I wanted to include the working drawings of the products as it’s fascinating to see someones design process, from an idea right through to a prototype and then the finished article.  The design below is called ‘Sideboard ‘ from the Smith Range and it is one of my favourites. The colored panels and pale wood make this a very on trend piece. Mr J Designs also offers a bespoke furniture design service.

Caiopliniodesign.com, for the true collector...

On October 17th, 2012 by .

Caiopliniodesign.com came to life in Como, in early 2012, founded by Riccardo Avenali and some friends design lovers who started collecting art and design pieces many years ago.  In early 2012 they decided to share their passion for design by creating a website where people can discover and, why not, buy their own collection.  Furniture, lamps, watches, accessories and even vintage motorcycles are just a few items available on their site.

Some of the pieces that they have sourced are truly stunning but as you might expect, buying genuine vintage items is not a cheap process, just remember that you are paying for a design classic and a piece of history…

Princelets, pretty online home accessories

On October 15th, 2012 by .

I am often approached by independent shops and designers asking me to talk about their new products, sadly, I am unable to feature everything but I try my best to include items that really stand out or pieces that I feel will appeal to my readers, Princelets falls into this category.  This new online shop offers an affordable collection with wide appeal, selling a mixture of  stylish printed textiles including tea-towels, cushions and bags, simplistic and pretty glassware and striking outdoor lanterns.

You may have seen the large banner that we have placed on our site, this is for Breast Cancer Awareness month, something that Pippa Jameson Interiors is very keen to support.  Breakthrough Breast Cancer have teamed up with various companies to create products which will raise awareness and vital funds for breast cancer and the research which they carry out.  Please take a peek at the Lookbook as there are some gorgeous bed linens and sheets which Laura Ashley and M&S have designed respectively.

Introducing Bowerbird, the new book by Interior Stylist Sibella Court

On October 10th, 2012 by .

Inspiring Australian stylist and globetrotter Sibella Court has released her newsest book entitled Bowerbird, over the weekend. An exciting visual feast, Bowerbird looks at the art of displaying your personal collections and finds, in the wonderfully rustic style that the author has become known for featuring raw, honest and earthy collections of her own.

This new release is such an inspiring read and in my opinion cements Sibella Court as one of the masters of styling and art of display. Copies are available through The Society Inc or Amazon for all UK residents (link at the bottom of the post).

Visje bij de thee, a gorgeous new online shop!

On October 3rd, 2012 by .

I would like to introduce the launch of Visje bij de Thee (Fish for Tea) a small and beautiful online shop, launched in Amsterdam by Iris Rietbergen (but don’t worry, they ship to the UK!) You can expect to find; soft furnishings, lighting, kitchenware and cute children’s accessories that are cozy, colourful and lots of fun! I particularly like the choice of colours and materials throughout the collection with pale woods and pretty florals teamed with a soft palette of greys, mustard and cream.  Take a look at the full range here or visit the blog.
