New year inspiration

On December 31st, 2012 by .

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and are looking forward to the New Year. If like me, you feel a little flat after all the festivities, then try to think about things that make you happy for 2013, through images…

Image 1: A long walk always blows away the cobwebs and is often where I find so much of my inspiration. Image 2: I love throws; cashmere, mohair, silk and wool, I think I have one in every material! I see it as an essential accessory for every bed and sofa ;0) Image 3: I will try to be as creative as I can at home and at work, I thought this picture demonstrated how something so simple can look so stylish. Image 4: A log fire makes me feel so happy, the crackle and smell of the burning wood brings back Childhood memories from the house I grew up in. It’s amazing how something can bring so much comfort. Image 5: Spring planting, this is the year when I plan to start my vegetable patch, a little way of I know but I love the idea of using these little sticks in the ground. 6: My family inspires me every day xx

What is your inspiration for 2013…?

Battersea Power Station & ITV

On December 19th, 2012 by .

As we reach the end of another year, I can honestly say that I have never felt more in need of a holiday! 2012 has been the busiest and most rewarding, of my 15 years of styling, and has seen me working on some of the most exciting and challenging projects.

Thank you to ITV for using me on the ITV Day Break & Lorraine show, this was a very busy production with two shoots running straight after one-another (snapshots from shoot set-up below) The team at ITV were great to work with and my assistant, Holly, was amazing!

I then went straight onto shoot at Battersea Power Station. I can’t say too much about this other than it’s the most amazing space! We were shooting in the engine room which is where they filmed the Kings Speech (and where Colin Firth delivered THAT speech). The Grade 11 listed building is so special and so to get a peek inside was great. We were faced with many challenges and were filming in temperatures of -1 but, it was worth it as the end result was magical. Thank you again to Holly and to my two runners, Abi and Eleanor.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!

Cosy Brights for Heart Home Magazine

On December 18th, 2012 by .

Below are my shots for the Winter issue of Heart Home Magazine (out now!)  This was a full on production, with a quick turnaround, but I am so happy with the results.  Joining us on the day was a full TV crew, I can’t say too much about this yet but whilst I was busy with the TV people, we called upon the talented Joanna Thornhill to help with the styling.  The pictures we were shot by the lovely Joanna Henderson, Jo is always a pleasure to work with as we are like two children in a sweetie shop when it comes to shooting together! Thanks also to the lovely Heart Home team for another fun shoot ;0)

Below is my initial sketch of how I wanted the main shot to look, I don’t normally include these in my posts (as I am no Picasso!) but sometimes, it’s interesting to see the work in progress
