Tina Frey Designs

On January 26th, 2012 by .

This is the beautiful work of Tina Frey, who was one of many talented designers exhibiting at Maison. Tina started her career in finance but decided to take a leap of faith and follow her passion of design; that was 6 years ago and now her company, Tina Frey Designs, distributes her products all over the world.

The colourful yet simple range is hand made from resin and incredibly, it’s all dishwasher safe, as well as having anti-bacterial qualities which makes it perfect for food. You can purchase Tina’s products from her UK outlet – Mint.

Chasing the sweet things in life

On December 6th, 2011 by .

One of my favourite blogs to read has to be Sweet Paul, written by New York City based, Norwegian, Paul Lowe – a food and prop stylist. His craft creations and yummy recipes are used in many editorial and commercial projects; but most notably in his own online and free publication, Sweet Paul Magazine.

Paul’s Oslo heritage can be seen in all aspects of his work. Cleverly working light, texture and colour in an effortlessly chic way. Crafting also comes naturally to Paul which gives him the edge to think out of the box and create something truly special. His beautiful images and food creations will not only make your mouth water, but they’ll leave you inspired. Sweet Paul’s recipes are easy to follow and due to the rustic, fun nature of the images – you don’t feel intimidated to try them. The elegant recipes are for home, friends and family; rather than Masterchef professionals! All 172 pages of the Winter 2011 Sweet Paul Magazine are brimming with original and festive ideas for you to try. Personal favourites from this issue include ‘Make Your Own Paper’ Pg 28, ‘Christmas Pudding Cupcakes’ Pg 37, and the feature on a homemade ‘Natural Christmas’ Pg 53. The feature on crafting your own wreaths {Pg 118} offers a creative option to the old classics. Oh, and the Divine Chocolate feature {Pg 160}!! There’s just too make great features to choose from.

Bold & Graphic trend shoot

On November 23rd, 2011 by .

This is our latest shoot that is now on Channel 4 Homes. Unless you have been away for all of 2011 then you must have noticed the ongoing trend for all things bright and graphic. It’s a certainly a striking scheme and not for the faint hearted. To recreate the look, use a graphic image for your background and pick out one of the colours for your bright piece of furniture.

It must be my editorial background as I always like to see my images layed out as a spread! I’ve included the larger versions below. I hope you like it ;0)

The beautiful work of Gill Wilson

On October 24th, 2011 by .

This is the stunning work of Gill Wilson, a designer I came across at Origin 2011, I remember walking past Gills stand and being totally struck by the beauty of her pieces.

Gill Wilson produces handmade paper using natural plant fibre as the raw material for architectural and interior schemes.  The pulp is hand dyed to produce a palette which ranges from the most subtle natural tones to full colour saturation. Any range of colours, hues and tones can be achieved.  Textures range from richly fibrous to perfectly smooth and are further enhanced by tooling, casting, spraying and layering. The finished artwork can be produced to any size, from domestic spaces to installations of unlimited scale.  You can see more of Gills gorgeous work here.
