I am a big fan of Apothecary jars but unless they are filled with something pretty they can often look a little unimpressive.  There are a multitude of things you can put inside in order to create a stylish feature for a room.  It could be simple storage items such as bangles, scarves, dried rose heads or fruit.  You can create more of a display by planting flowers inside, this will mean having to remove the lid so the plants can get to the fresh air, but it would make a lovely centerpiece for a special event.  Another alternative is to display candles inside, fill it full of feathers or opt for corks collected from wine and champagne bottles.  Figaandco sell beautiful French style Bon Bon jars, available on their website or through Not on The High Street, Heal’s also sell large glass and acrylic jars.

Eric and the team filmed some parts of the show around Europe, working with some great chefs along the way including the renowned Michel Roux junior.  It was a great job to work on as Eric and the production team were lovely and the puds were delicious!

Below are some fantastic examples of adding bright pieces of furniture.  If you live in a home with a neutral colour palette, this makes the perfect backdrop for introducing splashes of vibrant furniture such as dining chairs or a sofa.  You can see below how well these orange chairs work within this white kitchen.  Not only do they make a statement but they also bring personality and style to the room.  The same applies with the lime green sofa and chairs.  Although the sofa is not to my taste, you can see how successful the scheme is.

I am quite excited about this new Jigsaw homeware range as it’s the first time they  have branched out into interiors.  Well known for their muted and delicate colour palette in their fashion collections, Jigsaw will be looking to carry this same theme through into their new homeware range and it looks set to be rather special…It’s going to be available through House of Fraser  from early February 2010.

These images show examples of their new bedlinen collection which will consist of high quality cotton and linen which has been inspired by the British eccentricity.

Here is what they have to say….The collection has a distinctly British feel and features several designs inspired by Jigsaw clothing or iconic branding. The Wobble Spot design features the distinctive blue and white Jigsaw dot which fans of the brand will recognise as the print on wrapping paper used in stores. Claudia is the new face for American Express Richer Rewards card and during the informal breakfast we chatted to Claudia (who is exactly as you would expect her to be, very funny and warm) about the new card whilst getting an insight into her busy life.  As you can imagine, there were lots of questions about Claudia’s sense of style and ‘Strictly’ before we got to talk about the card…

Who is your favourite to win the show? “I love them all and would be happy for any of them to win”

Then it was on to her amazing sense of style and ‘who she was influenced by?’ “My style hero is Chrissie Hynde, we have a fantastic stylist on the show and I told her that I wanted to look like a mix between Chrissie and Kate Moss”.

Who styles you hair?  “A guy called Michael, he has been doing my hair for ages and tries to give me the messy ‘shag’ look – her actual answer was a bit more graphic and not something that I can really write on the blog but I am sure you get the picture…

Where do you shop for your clothes?  “I love the high street, especially French Connection and Topshop.  As I get so many enquiries about the clothes I wear on the show, I think it’s really important that the viewers are able to go and purchase the items.

Are you worried about ageing?  “Not at all, as the people that have really influenced me in my life are older and so that is something to embrace rather than shy away from”.

What’s the secret of your diet?  “I don’t really have one as I do eat what I want and I don’t have a fast metabolism!  I tend to eat lots of low calorie snacks such as Prawns, twiglets and lots of sushi”.

How do you find the balance of being a working mum and having a busy career?  “I love it but it is a juggling act.  I just make sure that I am there for the children; breakfast is always an important time with the family”.

What is your interior style?  “I loved all things that have a washed out look, things with a really pale feel.  Cath Kidston is a favourite.  I guess it would be called a Shabby Chic look”

How did you become the face of the Richer Rewards Card?  “It was a simple decision for me really.  I like to shop and if I can use a credit card that earns me points from favourite stores then that’s a great thing.  My £1′s convert into points and once these have built up I can then redeem them at participating stores.  The other thing (which we thought was great) is that Amex have a 90 day return policy and better still you don’t need to take the item back to the store.  You just return it to Amex and they will do if for you!

The basic rule to apply when decorating is to stick to a maximum of two colours (you can use various shades of this colour within the scheme) and then introduce a third texture for the furniture.  In this image they have used glass but white high gloss or modern dark wood furniture would have worked equally as well.  You can buy all the items in store now.

Another example of brights with the Manderley collection from Romo.  Here the sofa has been used as the main statement in the room and everything else around it has been kept fairly plain.  Choosing a vibrant feature piece of furniture is always a good starting point when decorating a room as you can build the colour scheme around it.

The above scheme, Tiverton collection from Romo, is a little softer, opting for calm hues of blue, grey and cream combined with dark wooden furniture.

I love all the elements in this picture.  The chair and cushions are from House of Fraser, for a similar style chair click this link….it’s reduced from £1,000 to £699! I have to say I want one!  I have always longed for a distressed leather tub chair for my living room.  It makes you want to snuggle in with a good book and a glass of red wine; all that’s missing is the log fire!  Interestingly, I have seen the wallpaper a few times now and It’s great way to create interest in an otherwise dark corner of a room..  If you can’t afford to have a separate library then why not opt for the wallpaper instead!  You can purchase a similar style from Deborah Bowness, she has a whole host of designs, all of which are very individual.  The simple deep grey paint colour on the walls makes a perfect backdrop to the  textures of the leather chair and the busy pattern of the wallpaper.  Altogether a stylish and creative combination.

Above is an image of one of the sets I designed for the commercial.   The brief was to create a New York style apartment that was modern, light and airy.  I then handed my sketches over to a colleague who transformed them into CAD.  This is a great way for the client to see my thoughts and ideas for the set design.  You can see the finished commercial below

The next project we worked on was a stills shoot for an album cover.

The singer is called Steph Spencer and she has been signed by Simon Fuller. I posted the moodboard for the shoot a few weeks ago-here it is above, along with two shots from the day.

Finally, the last project we have just finished was a series for Channel 4 called Glamour Puds for top pâtissier, Eric Lanlard.  Pippa Jameson Interiors has been styling the room sets for the shots of the finished puds….and yes we did get to sample them!!  No pics of this I’m afraid but the series will coming out soon on Channel 4.
