Keeping busy whilst on maternity leave

It’s been a busy and exciting month. As well as looking after the newest addition to the family, we are also moving house and juggling work. Why is it that everything always happens at once!
-We were asked to style an advertorail for Marie Claire but passed the job over to a good friend of mine as it’s a bit too soon after the baby.

New baby & interview with Laurence Llewelyn Bowen!

Our beautiful baby girl has arrived! As predicted, she was one week early and is absolutely perfect. It’s day 6 and she is still having a massive sleep fest – hence me being able to blog! We have lots of really exciting projects on the go at the moment. The first is our exciting interview with Laurence Llewelyn Bowen by our Shopping Contributor Liz Danon.

Update on pub renovation

The pub renovation job is going well. I met with the Builder today to discus my ideas and show him the room plans I have designed. They are due to start ripping out the old rooms in a few weeks and then the fun starts! We are now designing 6 rooms rather than 5 as apparently if you have 6 rooms or more then you can class yourself as a hotel. This in turn means you can be listed in all the good hotel guides and hopefully gain star ratings.

We have now finished the Wii commercial and no baby!  A big thank you to my brilliant assistant Jo Thornhill who put in 100% (as always).  The shoot was a success and everyone seemed very pleased with the set!  I’ll post a link to the new commercial when it’s aired.   So, 2 weeks to [...]

Expect to see more colour in 2010

On February 1st, 2010 by pippa.

Bright colours continue to be a key look for 2010.  As predicted in our trend forecast last year (colour blocking feature) we are now starting to see this trend really come to light.  Nearly all of the high street stores, including BHS, Matalan, Next, Marks & Spencer & Habitat, have a bright and confident collection that will launch over the next few months.  If you want to create the look but are a bit scared of committing to a large piece of bright furniture then why not start out with some accessories to see how well they work within your room.  This will also avoid any costly mistakes.

Credits: Glass vases, mugs, clock, plastic tubs, cake stands all from the lovely Hambledon; yellow lamp, orange stool and yellow cube all from Habitat

Below are some fantastic examples of adding bright pieces of furniture.  If you live in a home with a neutral colour palette, this makes the perfect backdrop for introducing splashes of vibrant furniture such as dining chairs or a sofa.  You can see below how well these orange chairs work within this white kitchen.  Not only do they make a statement but they also bring personality and style to the room.  The same applies with the lime green sofa and chairs.  Although the sofa is not to my taste, you can see how successful the scheme is.

Plumo, fashionable home accessories

On January 20th, 2010 by pippa.

Plumo, what can I say, they are still one of my favourite mail order companies.  I wanted to feature some of their pretty accessories as they are  spot on with the forth coming Southern Folk trend that Pippa Jameson Interiors has predicted for 2010 and 2011.  Below is our original moodboard followed by all the pretty accessories from Plumo.  My absolute favourite is the Batik lampshade, I think they would look fantastic as a collection of three above a dining table.

Crown colour trends for 2010

On January 5th, 2010 by Keinton Butler.

Colour is an affordable and effective way of making a change to our homes and can quickly transform a room or house exterior. It can also help cement a theme and bring a ‘look’ together.

To provide you with some colour inspiration, we are excited to present the predicted colour trends for 2010, carefully selected by the experienced ‘Trends Panel’ at Crown paints. The innovative colour palettes represent directions that the panel believes will be key for interiors this year.

Terra

The earthen hues of the natural world with a striking contemporary twist. A bold palette of warm oranges and burnt reds complimented with greys, purples and dusky pinks, resulting in a truly modern look.

St Germaine

As the name suggests, a colour palette inspired by timeless Parisian style. Think strong, monochromatic shades, teamed with elegant, rich detailing. A sophisticated twist on the baroque themes of last decade.

Simple Beauty

Reflecting one of the hottest trends right now, this theme touches on sustainability, craft and tradition. Experiment with neutral shades and accents of green and purple.

New Mexico

A fresh take on a classic theme inspired by the hot hues of the Mexican desert. Burnt oranges, yellows and dusty taupes feature, with accents of greying whites and midnight blue.

Paperback

Taking inspiration from a well-thumbed novel, this colour palette is based on comfortable, familiar pastels, teamed with the freshness of olive green and yellow.

Plush

Decadence encapsulated. Create drama at home with an intense colour palette of rich purples, and an eclectic mix of textured homewares.

Interior trends for 2010 / 2011-Southern Folk

On November 2nd, 2009 by pippa.

French trend agency Nelly Rodi have released their 2010 / 2011 Fashion trends for the Copenhagen International Fashion Fair.  One of my favourite predictions is the ‘Southern Folk’ trend.  The colour palette contains hits of deep red and moody purple’s grounded by the colours of the dry South American landscape – Think ochre, clay & cactus greens.

We have used some of their predictions within our moodboard and then added our own interpretation of the look.Interior Trends 2010, Pippa Jameson Interiors

How to Sell your Home in a Recession with Oliver Heath: Part 3

On September 9th, 2009 by pippa.

PART 3) SIMPLE UPDATES

If you are selling or renting your home then try and make sure it looks up to date with the latest decor.  You don’t have to go crazy and re-decorate your whole home as little touches here and there will do the trick.  I know you have heard it a million times but it is best to keep the look simple.  Stick to neutral colours for the walls and just add interest with your accessories.

B&Q

The stylish paint colours and accessories above are from B&Q and are very affordable.

Accessories: You can update the look of your home with fairly inexpensive accessories.  Hide away all of the clutter and then add simple key touches.  A bookshelf or coffee table could be transformed with a simple table runner and a few ornaments.  The pretty accessories below are from Wilkinson and start from just £6.  (more…)

Vintage is still going strong

On July 22nd, 2009 by pippa.

The love of vintage interiors and accessories looks like it’s here to stay so I thought I would post some images from a vintage shoot I worked on with my photographer friend Jemma Watts.  The brief was a pretty vintage summer picnic.  It’s a really easy look to create and would be lovely to use for a party picnic with friends.

Vintage looks

I love pretty tins like the one in the photo above.  I am always on the hunt for them in vintage and charity shops.  They are great for cutlery but also as pen pots and the larger ones as cake tins.  They also look great teamed with old french linen napkins. (more…)

5 tips on selling your home in a recession with guest writer Oliver Heath:Part 2

On July 14th, 2009 by pippa.

Selling homes in a collapsed housing market is tough which is why Pippa Jameson Interiors has collaborated with Oliver Heath to bring you 5 keys tips on how to sell your home in a recession.  Here we look at cleaning your home in preparation for sale…

oliver-080323_low3 PART 2: Cleanliness
This is a must! If you don’t have the time to have a good old clean and yet you think your home might be looking a bit dirty then it would be money well spent to invest in a cleaning company.  Trust me when I say that a dirty house is not a house that will attract buyers.

Home cleaning costs anywhere between £30-70 and this will hire you a team of cleaners to come in and give the house a once over.  Also, having the carpets cleaned can be done for as little as £20 and will have them looking brand new again.  If it will sell your house then it is worth it! (more…)

5 tips on selling your home in a recession with guest writer Oliver Heath: Part 1

On June 22nd, 2009 by pippa.

Guest writer Oliver Heath

Pippa Jameson Interiors has teamed up with Interiors expert Oliver Heath to provide 5 essential tips on selling a home in a recession. Over the coming weeks we will advice you on what to do and not to do when preparing your home for sale. These are tough times that we are facing, especially if you are in the position of trying to sell your home in a market that has collapsed. That said, there are still buyers out there but just not as many. For this reason your home has to really hit the mark when it comes to presentation.

“You want to leave potential buyers with a sense that the property has been well maintained and looked after so that that they don’t get the sinking feeling that as soon as they move in there’ll be lots of things that need doing”.

PART 1: DECLUTTERING

There is nothing that puts of a buyer more than clutter! Even though you may adore your little collection of porcelain cats and dogs I can guarantee that your buyer will not. Things that are personal to you mean nothing at all to a buyer; harsh but true. So put away all the little nik naks that are lying around and invest in some good storage. If you have things rammed into overflowing cupboards it is going to look like the house is too small to cater for your belongings and give the impression of being cramped. (more…)
