If you get a chance then grab a copy of the September issue of Homes & Gardens The following feature is called ‘Country Chapel’ on page 109. It’s a stunning chapel conversion which has been sympathetically transformed using some very clever styling and pretty vintage accessories. The owner is Camilla Cobham, joint partner of the lovely company: The Vintage Wedding List Company. Each room retains all of the original features, including the kitchen which is the former vestry, it really is stunning.

The next article is called ‘Shortlist Tableware’. Styled by Ali Brown and photographed by Kristin Perers. It’s brings you a round up of the latest plates, glassware, cutlery and serveware. If like me, you have a thing for pretty vintage home accessories then you will also want to buy it all!

BHS: new homeware collections

Gingham, Union Jack, Crochet, Florals, Spotty, Linen cupboard, Applique, Tea Pastels and Boho are the words that BHS use to descibe their new homeware called ‘Maison Vintage’ Within this collection are three key looks; British, Fifties Bliss & Linen Cupboard. The looks are spot on with the key trends for this A/W especially 50′s Bliss. I think the over all look is really pretty, especially the crochet cushions with the little birds in the 50′s collection. And I love the trays in the British collection.

If you get a chance then grab a copy of the September issue of Homes & Gardens as there is a lovely feature called ‘Country Chapel’ on page 109. The owners live in a converted a chapel and have lots of vintage/country accessories as seen in the pictures above.

Dolls with personality

OMG, are these not the prettiest dolls you have ever seen! They have been created by Paris-based artist, Apolline. I came across her work in Selvedge Magazine (which I am also obsessed with, after writing the last few posts I’ve noticed that I have quite a few obsessions!) Inspired by her two daughters and childhood dreams, she has created a whole range of cute characters, even one called Pippa ;0) I think my favourite has to be Agnes, who I believe is a mouse. She’s in the top left hand corner and is wearing a pink skirt and green headscarf. Her mobiles feature owls, pussycats and polka dot toadstools. Love it! Click here for more of her works

When I was at university, I very nearly specialised in ceramics rather then textiles with the view of going on to become a designer maker. This is why I have such an unhealthy obsession with Chinaware. London Science Museum gets thumbs up

I’m planning a trip to the London Science Museum with my youngest daughter (2 yrs old) as I keep hearing that they have lots of activities for under 5′s as well as fountain which they run in and out and get soaked…great! Then, I had a quick look through August’s issue of Creative Review and there was a huge article about its rebranding. Iwanted to post the images as I love the typeface and colours that have been chosen for the finished look. “London’s Science Museum has been steadily transforming itself over the past few years in order to appeal to a wider audience. This month a new identity for the institution was unveiled by johnson banks that aims to build on that momentum. The London-based studio was appointed at the end of 2009 to redesign the Science Museum’s brand and identity.

“After experimenting with several routes, the chosen idea stemmed from research we did on codes, puzzles, patterns and basic digital typefaces, and we found a way to shorten the word science so we could create a grid-like ‘stack’ of the letterforms. We also began to experiment with slightly abstracted letterforms as we noticed that ‘science’ and ‘museum’ were relatively generic words.”

Moodboard for advertising shoot

I am working on another advertising job and thought I would post my initial moodboard. I can’t really say what the brief is until it has been photographed and published but you can probably guess the theme! I always have a set approach to creating moodboards by starting one and then coming back to it a day later. This way I can instantly see what needs adding and or changing. I will try and post the finished article to show the difference between the two.

Back to work

I’ve been back at work for a week now and it’s been good but manic! I am really missing my baby but dare I say I do love being back in the office…guilt!
So, workwise we are quoting for an advertising job which will be five room sets ups-probably a set build rather than a location house. Should be a lovely shoot with lots of modern lifestyle photography. We just have to decide on the photographer.
I then have to film a Christmas viral for another client which should be fun ;0). I’ll post the work when it’s been published/aired.
The great news to come back to is that the blog has been nominated for an award! Thank you everyone!

Great news – Pippa Jameson Interiors has been nominated for My Deco Design Democracy Blog Awards. So thank you to all of my raeders who voted for me! As part of the process, I have been asked to write a blog post about what design democracy means to me.

I guess it means that ultimately we all have the freedom and right to design and decorate in a fashion that suits ourselves without having to conform to a particular look or style.

Everyone looks to creative bodies for design advice, guidance and inspiration and may even copy an exact style to reproduce in their home. So even though we have the freedom to design what we like some still choose to conform, but the difference is, it is their choice.

Even though I am an interior stylist I am always looking around for inspiration and I love the fact that we can feed of other peoples designs and creations to give us an idea for a totally new project. Take my desk space at work as an example, it is covered with tear sheets, fashions images, fabrics and ribbon, old photographs and much more. They are not necessarily pinned up for a job, I just like to be surrounded by images that inspire me.

I am sure that all stylists, painters, fashionistas and pretty much any designer you meet will feed of others peoples designs as well as other elements around them such as travel and nature.

London is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world and we are surrounded by the most incredible talent. I feel very lucky to be in the middle of it all with untold exhibitions , galleries, fashion shows, you name it and London is showing it.

Coming back to design democracy briefly; I think as a nation we have never been more individual and creative. People are more willing to experiment and have the confidence to have a go themselves. This in turn has created an eclectic trend that can be seen in interiors and fashion. A kind of ‘anything goes’ that has to be convicted with confidence for it to work and some how, it does!
