Serax Maison d’etre

On April 25th, 2012 by .

The images below are from the 2012 collection of Serax-Maison d’être, a company that flourished after two sons took over their mothers business under the name of Serax.  I was fortunate enough to see their collection at Maison 2012 and it didn’t disappoint.  Offering a selection of modern interior objects, their collection ranges from original glassware to elegant services and tea-light candles.  What I love most about this collection is the mix of snowy whites against the punchy Pantone colours.

The idea of living without colour is unthinkable. Colours show our state of mind, our emotions and our feelings. Colours determine who we are. Set yourself apart and bring colour into your life with the new Serax Collections flower pots, vases and solifleur vases. Four objects drenched in 12 unique colours. Serax lays down the form, Pantone Universe™ the colour. The result is a perfect symbiosis of design and colour.” Quote: Serax-Maison d’être,

BlogTour NYC: Part 4

Here are a few pictures from the showroom of the One 57 building, a tour carried out by Miele as part of our BlogTourNYC.  Located at 157 West 57th Street in New York, this 90-story condominium tower will boast spectacular views of Central Park.  One 57 will be one of the highest mixed-used towers in Manhattan, where residents will enjoy exclusive 5-star services provided by the Park Hyatt hotel, which will be located on the lower 30 floors. Christian De Portzamparc is the architect and Thomas Juul-Hansen will design the interiors.

This is a virtual image of the view from living room of the penthouse.

Commissioned by Smallbone, the kitchen spec was first class with the all the latest mod-cons and appliances. I particularly liked the furniture they had chosen, the wooden textures made a refreshing contrast against the dramatic marble work surfaces.  The lighting was simplistic and used in a way that created drama and elegance.  The bar stools were also very cool as they were completely hidden and integrated into the island.

This is a small  model of the building and illustrates how high it will sit amongst the New York skyline.

After the One 57 building we headed off to Miele’s stylish showroom where we had super
cooked for us by the fantastic Adam Schop, Miele’s Table Artist.

Adam very skillfully plates our food.

Hannah and Toma have a go!

Adam cooked with all of Miele’s fantastic products, their aim is to help people enhance the way they cook, delivering a message of ‘better living’

Will and Andrew are all smiles as they await their food…

Tamara, Stacey and Toma looking very glamorous.

My BlogTour trip to New York seems like a distant memory, but there are still lots of fantastic pictures to share with you.  Below are some images from the fabulous D&D building (Decoration & Design).  Housing some of the world’s most sought after Interior companies, the D&D building is home to 130 premier showrooms with over 20,000 design and architectural professionals passing through each month. The building also offers cutting edge programming including; events, exhibitions, a design concierge service as well as the famed chef and restaurateur Charlie Palmer’s ASTRA cafe.

This was the stunning mosaic outside the D&D building.  As well as the
gorgeous furniture and home accessories, each floor housed the most incrediable artwork

Just some of the beautiful fabrics at Scube Design, Anichini and de Le Cuona

Two of my favourite design pieces, both Lorin Marsh.  The chair is a modern interpretation
of Japanese design, taking elements such as the signature lacquer finish and transforming it into a
21st Century chair

Wishing the chair could be mine…

I fell in love with this floor standing lamp from Fortuny and just look at the rest of their showroom (below).
The lights are original, salvaged from an old industrial factory.

Andrew, Arianna & Kate checking to see if they have Wi-fi!!

As you can image the Donghia showroom was stunning, think silks, texture and luxury.

Ideas for the office, dining room & kitchen

If you are thinking of updating your kitchen, dining room or office any time soon, then check out the following rooms from Heals (I’m LOVING the dining room) and Muuto, a Scandinavian design company with a new and original perspective.  Muuto, inspired by the Finnish word muutos, means new perspective..

BlogTour diary: Part 2

Part 2 of BlogTourNYC saw us having breakfast with Poggenpohl/Blanco at the new A&D building.  It was a lovely morning and a great chance for us to take a look at their new collection.  Below are a few shots of my favourite design pieces from the day.

A personal favourite of mine was this CERANA Apron Front sink, designed to be reversible with two different corner radius measurements, it works in both a traditional kitchen using the rounded front, or within a contemporary scheme utilising the contoured apron front.

For someone that loves order in the kitchen, I am a huge fan of the  drawer organisers, designed for the essential kitchen utencils

The integrated coffee machines are a must, the appliance fits seamlessly into the kitchen layout without detracting from the streamline finish.

This stylish faucet has an option of spray or stream and unlike other models, it springs back using a magnetic pull.

Our delicious breakfast!
