It was SO much fun to do this shoot for the May issue of Homestyle magazine (out now) and I’m so pleased with how it turned out! We wanted to create ‘3 Looks’ for Print & Pattern and an obvious look was spots and stripes, creating a polka dot wall for the living room, and what better palette to choose than the ever popular Monochrome.
We wanted to add a splash of just one colour and in my opinion, the best accompaniment for black and white is mint – don’t you think? We chose a few monochrome and mint accessories from the gorgeous Oliver Bonas.
Applying the spots was the best part of the shoot, my lovely set-builder (AKA Steve Paul Wilson from The Great Interior Design Challenge) was a little apprehensive at first, I reassured him that it needed to be a spontaneous application and to just go for it! He made a stencil and then he was off, didn’t he do a great job! We thought it would be quite fun to let the dots run out at the top of the shot, it also acts as a nice frame making the circles stand out a little more.
We are in love with this large stripe tile from Rocket St George, it makes the perfect coaster and is big enough for 2 cups, it also doubles up as a handy base for a candle.
