Colour trends for S/S 2018 are forecast way in advance with researchers looking at a multitude of information. This will include subjects such as the economy, sustainability, fashion and global influences, amongst other things. The life span of a trend can last for years, right from the point of the forecast, watching it take hold of the consumer and then market saturation. I would say that ‘Grey’ and ‘Colour Blocking’ are two of the biggest trends that I can think of and most recently ‘Monochrome’. Most trends never completely disappear, instead they evolve and morph into the next stage; botanical into tropical botanical (with the odd parrot or flamingo added) ‘grey’ that has slowly morphed into deep grey/blue, and blush pink/pastels that’s now called ‘wellbeing’… you get my point.
One paint company that is generally spot on when it come to forecasting is Crown Paints. Here is a selection of their lifestyle images showing their new SS18 colour trends along with a little ‘behind the scenes’ video of their SS18 Colour Influences shoot. I am naturally drawn to the soft and sophisticated palette of Linear, how about you?
